A Patch Ae Land is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and our work is guided by the official purposes laid out in our constitution. Our core mission is to serve the community of North West Dumfries by advancing community development, education, health, and environmental protection.

our charitable purposes

• Advancing community development by providing and maintaining a volunteer-led community garden, which acts as a sanctuary and hub for social interaction, fostering a sense of community ownership and pride through collaborative projects, celebrations, and recreational activities.

• Advancing education by providing opportunities for individuals to learn and develop skills in sustainable gardening, horticulture, composting, seed saving, food preservation, woodwork, and traditional crafts through hands-on volunteer work and structured workshops.

• Advancing environmental protection and improvement by protecting and promoting green spaces, implementing sustainable practices such as water conservation and composting, and engaging the community in environmental initiatives including tree planting, recycling, and litter picking to raise environmental awareness.

• Improving the conditions of life by providing a recreational facility and organising recreational activities, including gardening, arts and crafts, festivals, and community events, to improve the physical and mental well-being of residents.

• Advancing health by promoting healthy eating through the cultivation and distribution of fresh, locally grown produce and by hosting cooking demonstrations and workshops to improve diet and food education.

Our Trustees

A Patch Ae Land is managed by a dedicated board of volunteer charity trustees who are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the organisation. Our current office-bearers are:
